A hand-drawn sketch, and the maze's transformation formula drawn as a diagram. What is actually on the page: a rainbow arch with no color in it at all, concentric graphite bands only, with a small empty doorway at its base; two pillars lettered J (left, dark and solid) and B (right, light, open at the top), the Jachin and Boaz of Solomon's Temple; three serpents soaring in the air above the arch; the caption "The Empty Room"; and below it a two-faced, monkey-like creature, its head split by a zigzag, the two faces turned opposite ways with arrows pulling in both directions, one body trying to move both ways at once. Those figures are not generic esoterica. In the whole maze, monkey, serpent, and flight come together in exactly one other room: room 125, titled "THE SERPENT MUST TAKE FLIGHT" and unlocked by "THE MONKEY MUST BECOME THE BIRD." This drawing reads as that formula's picture: the divided monkey below is the one that must become the bird, and the serpents overhead have already taken flight. In the Theosophical stream Roy's board draws on, the "rainbow bridge" (antahkarana) is the span a person builds across their own divided nature, which compresses the whole sketch into one statement: the divided monkey must cross the empty bridge to take flight.

The emptiness is the other half of the design. The composition closely matches the Fourth Apocalyptic Seal Rudolf Steiner published, a rainbow spanning two pillars lettered J and B in Steiner's rare J-left/B-right order (the reverse of the Masonic tracing-board and the Tarot High Priestess), with the seal's entire subject stripped out: the radiant figure, the open book, the cloud, the sea and land, and the color itself. Steiner is a named influence, and the match is held as a strong read, not a statement of intent. What remains is the room of the title, an image with no subject, so whoever takes the room becomes its subject; this guide's author reads the invitation as "see what I, the consumed, see from the seat I left empty for you." The empty doorway is the crossing not yet made, the same double-edged empty held at The Empty Mirror, and as an early artifact the sketch plants the pillars-and-middle schema the Kabbalah cluster later formalizes: Roy on one pillar, Lucius on the other, the human walker as the in-between.
